Job summary

Firefly Aerospace, Inc. in Briggs, Texas, is seeking a skilled Composite Technician to manufacture aerospace-grade composite parts and support future products at our Briggs Production and Test facility north of Cedar Park.

Join a team focused on high-performance structures, carbon layups, bonding, and curing processes, with opportunities to mentor others and drive efficiency across fabrication operations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of composite manufacturing experience (aerospace preferred).
  • Advanced expertise in layup, bonding, and cure processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build flight‑critical or high‑complexity hardware.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and meticulous craftsmanship.
  • Proficient with pneumatic tools, power tools, and precision measurement equipment.
  • Experience in AS9100 or similarly regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior team members.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Cut carbon using hand tools to high tolerance.
  • Perform bonding operations (abrade, clean, prep adhesives, etc).
  • Hand lamination of various materials including carbon, glass, Kevlar, film adhesives and foam or metallic cores.
  • Perform full vacuum bag cure cycles from running instrumentation, debulking through monitoring oven runs.
  • Cure materials per mfg. spec.
  • Material handling pursuant to AS9100.
  • Ability to identify scarf back plies (Scarfing).
  • Support con-ops and tooling design meetings for future products.
  • Improve composite operations and product designs with engineering.
  • Constantly improve the fabrication operations and drive efficiency projects from the ground up.

Summary

Composite technicians manufacture all production and development primary structures, tanks and secondary structures from raw fiber through delivery to the integration line. The Alpha vehicle is the only American all-composite rocket and composites will fundamentally set Firefly above the competitors. As a core strength, we seek composite technicians with a diverse knowledge base along the entire manufacturing line.
