ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE

SUMMARY

Those with construction and woodworking experience are highly encouraged to apply. Location is in Briggs, TX, north of Cedar Park. Composite technicians manufacture all production and development primary structures, tanks and secondary structures from raw fiber through delivery to the integration line. The Alpha vehicle is the only American all-composite rocket and composites will fundamentally set Firefly above the competitors. Current openings are for both first and second shift.


Full training is provided. Those with construction and craftsmanship experience (carpentry, woodworking, tile work, etc.) are welcome to apply. If you have a passion for learning, strong attention to detail, and the idea of building rockets excites you - then we would like to talk to you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all the steps in making aerospace grade composite parts, including but not limited to:

  1. Cut carbon using hand tools to high tolerance
  2. Perform bonding operations (abrade, clean, prep adhesives, etc.)
  3. Hand lamination of various materials including (carbon fiber, film adhesives and foam or metallic cores)
  4. Perform full vacuum bag cure cycles from running instrumentation, debulking through monitoring oven runs
  5. Cure materials per mfr spec
  6. Material handling pursuant to AS9100
  7. Support con-ops and tooling design meetings for future products
  8. Improve composite operations and product designs with engineering
  9. Constantly improve the fabrication operations and drive efficiency projects from the ground up

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required (training will be available to help everyone be successful)

  1. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  2. Attention to detail
  3. Meticulous craftsmanship
  4. Demonstrated ability to drill and lay out precision holes
  5. Proficient use of pneumatic tools, hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments
  6. Familiarity working with and conforming to drilling, laminating, and assembly prints
  7. Experience working with material data sheets
  8. Shop organization and cleanliness
  9. Use of personal protective equipment
  10. Ability to stand for long periods
  11. Lift 50 lbs.
