Job Schedule: 1st Shift 9/80 work schedule – 80 hours over 14 days with every other Friday off
Job Description:

The Composite Manufacturing Technician works closely with supervision on routine tasks. Communicates with team contacts to exchange information, explanations, and interpretations to ensure understanding and agreement.

Essential Functions:
  1. Produce parts, components, and final assemblies using composite fabrication, molding, metal fabrication, modification, checkout, rework, quality testing, and assembly following detailed work instructions, schematics, diagrams, layouts, or diagnostic equipment.
  2. Prepare components for lay-up, filament winding, curing, and post-curing using various materials and adhesives.
  3. Operate machinery and shop equipment including filament winders, ovens, autoclaves, CNC machines, presses, furnaces, and more.
  4. Assemble piece parts into sub-assemblies using appropriate tools.
  5. Perform vacuum bagging and related processes for composite fabrication and curing.
  6. Complete structural bonding operations with adhesives and core materials.
  7. Build complex layups individually and in small groups.
  8. Insulate mandrels and composite cases.
  9. Winding filament for composite structures.
  10. Cast, cure, and machine sand mandrels.
  11. Facilitate and conduct on-the-job training for technicians.
  12. Collaborate with management to meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 4 years experience, or a 2-year post-secondary degree with 0-2 years experience.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of safety, Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, instructions, and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to teams and management.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Teamwork and cooperative relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with plastic, rubber, or synthetic insulating materials.
  • Skills in weighing, mixing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment.
