Job summary

AIRO Group Holdings, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Composite Technician to support fabrication, assembly, and repair of aerospace-grade structures in Phoenix.

You will perform prepreg layup, curing, trimming, and inspection, following established work instructions and quality standards. You will read blueprints, prepare molds, track materials, operate ovens or autoclaves, maintain documentation, and collaborate with the Composites Supervisor to meet production schedules while upholding safety and

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on composite manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of carbon fiber and fiberglass.
  • Familiarity with composite layup, vacuum bagging and curing processes preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and develop composite manufacturing skills.
  • Familiarity with aerospace or AS9100 environments, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform layup, vacuum bagging, curing, and trimming operations per instructions.
  • Read blueprints, ply schedules, and technical docs to execute processes.
  • Prepare molds and tooling, including cleaning, release application, and setup.
  • Cut, label, and stage composite materials with batch traceability.
  • Assist in constructing vacuum bag assemblies and perform leak checks.
  • Operate curing equipment (ovens/autoclaves) following required parameters.
  • Inspect components for defects and report quality concerns.
  • Perform trimming, drilling, bonding, and finishing of composite parts as needed.
  • Maintain production documentation and material tracking.
  • Use and maintain tools, equipment, and workspace.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized environment.
  • Support team objectives and production schedules as directed.

Job description

Position Overview:

The Composite Technician is responsible for supporting the fabrication, assembly, and repair of composite structures for AIRO production operations. This role performs hands‑on composite manufacturing tasks including material preparation, layup, curing, trimming, and inspection while ensuring adherence to established work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Composite Technician works under the direction of the Composites Supervisor to support efficient and consistent production output.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform composite layup, vacuum bagging, curing, and trimming operations using prepreg and/or wet layup materials in accordance with work instructions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, ply schedules, and technical documentation to execute manufacturing processes accurately
  • Prepare molds and tooling, including cleaning, release application, and setup
  • Cut, label, and stage composite materials with proper batch and lot traceability
  • Assist in constructing vacuum bag assemblies and perform basic leak checks prior to cure
  • Operate curing equipment (ovens and/or autoclaves) following established parameters and supervision as needed
  • Inspect components for defects and report quality concerns to leadership
  • Perform trimming, drilling, bonding, and finishing of composite parts as required
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, including travelers and material tracking
  • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements, and maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Support team objectives and production schedules as directed by leadership

Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
  • Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management, customers, visitors, vendors.
  • Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
  • Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English,
  • Correctable vision and hearing.
