Job summary

FMI Composites is seeking an experienced Composite Operator to join our Rayon Carbon Fabric Team in Winston-Salem, NC. You will operate production equipment, monitor product quality, maintain production records, and contribute to a safe, efficient manufacturing environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 1+ year in lab or manufacturing; familiarity with composites or textiles and inspection tools is a plus. We offer a structured shift schedule and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or chemistry coursework is a plus.
• 1+ year of lab, manufacturing, or related experience.
• Knowledge of composites/textiles; ASTM test methods; atomic absorption testing and carbon content determination a plus.
• Experience with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers) and basic testing methods.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow work instructions and safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities with Excel/MS Office.
• Familiarity with quality systems or ERP.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties safely in line with safety programs and policies.
• Read, interpret, and follow work orders and procedures.
• Process rayon fabrics through skeining, flexing, pre-carbonization, firing, acid dipping, washing, and grading.
• Process carbon and graphite materials through carbonizing, re-rolling, and oven firing.
• Start up/shut down, thread, monitor, and maintain feeding of production equipment.
• Prepare production reports, quality records, and logs; collect samples and perform quality inspections.
• Perform minor equipment maintenance and participate in continuous improvement programs.
