Job summary

Universal Studios in Orlando is seeking a Composite Technician to fabricate and repair fiberglass and carbon fiber items for ride vehicles, show figures, and props. You will apply lay-up techniques, read blueprints, and ensure quality and structural integrity as directed by Engineering and Management.

The role requires hands-on experience with gel coating, vacuum bagging, and molds, with attention to safety and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

5–7 years of structural lay-up experience with composite materials.
Strong understanding of lay-up charts, blueprints and engineered specifications.
Experience with gel coating and vacuum bagging processes.
Ability to read drawings and perform repairs on ride vehicles, props and related components.
Valid Florida Driver's License is required to operate company vehicles.

Responsibilities

Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass and carbon fiber repairs to ride vehicles and props as directed by Engineering and Management.
Select precut layers of mat, cloth, carbon fiber and bracing for projects.
Apply multiple layers of mat/fiber to achieve required thickness and adhesion.
Design, manufacture and repair molds for composite products used across venues.
Safely operate vacuum pump and manage gel coating and lay-up processes.
Follow EH&S guidelines and participate in safety responsibilities.
