Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Clearfield, UT is seeking an Entry Level Composite Bonder to join our Manufacturing Operations Organization on site. This role may involve weekdays, nights, and weekends with shift differential where applicable.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, laying out parts, bonding processes, operating autoclave and presses, controlling heat and pressure, and ensuring finished product quality. Clearance to start and physical work are required.

Qualifications

• Requires reading and understanding blueprints and process specs.
• Ability to lay out articles, cut parts, and apply bonding agents.
• Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes.
• Operate autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens for bonding cycles.
• Control heat, pressure and timing per material specs.
• Sand, burr and seal edges; perform repairs per instructions.
• Monitor and verify quality of finished products.

Description

In this position, you will join our Manufacturing Operations Organization within our Aeronautics Systems sector as a Composite Bonder – Entry Level supporting our Clearfield, UT site.

This position may be filled at varying shift times including weekdays, nights, and weekends (shift differential paid during eligible shifts).

Please note: Only external candidates and NG employees who are not currently Composite Bonders at the Clearfield site will be considered under this requisition.

Essential Functions

• Read and understand blueprints
• Lay out articles, cut parts or materials to size, and apply liquid or solid bonding agents
• Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes
• Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete bonding cycle
• Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used
• Sand, bur, and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges
• Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions
• Monitor and verify quality of finished product

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs. U.S. Citizenship required for clearance.
• Must successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business need
• Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing
• Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.

Primary Level Salary Range: $34,300.00 - $57,100.00
