Job summary

Qualifications

Job Summary

The Component Repair & Overhaul Manager is responsible for managing technicians, equipment, tooling, technical data and other supporting activities associated with CR&O at Western Aircraft in full compliance with 14 CFR Part 145 standards.

This position serves as a key leadership role with accountability for workmanship, quality, efficiency, and cost management. The CR&O Manager will have customer facing responsibilities regarding teardown reports, turn-around-time, technical issues and business development. The CR&O Manager will also assist in developing new supply chain partnerships and coordinate insourcing as in-house capabilities expand.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring technicians are appropriately trained and have access to approved technical data that falls within the repair station’s certified ratings. The CR&O Manager will also confirm there is clear alignment with quality at all levels and will have responsibility to continually expand our FAA repair capabilities list.

From a financial perspective the CR&O Manager will be responsible for budgeting and managing department expenses, headcount requirements and facility expansion strategies as well as providing input on business models used to increase revenue and profitability.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure timely delivery of component repairs and overhauls in compliance with 14 CFR Part 145.
• Prepare, manage, and monitor budgets, project bids, and forecasts.
• Maintain quality standards while ensuring departmental profitability.
• Coordinate with Scheduling, Parts, and MRO departments, as well as external vendors, to ensure efficient repair flow.
• Provide timely and accurate updates regarding component repair status to customers and internal stakeholders including teardown reports, turn-around time, and technical issues.
• Ensure proper documentation of customer approvals and prepare accurate customer invoices.
• Directly supervise assigned technicians within the Component Shop.
• Motivate, mentor, train, discipline, and conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
• Manage equipment, tooling and technical data associated with CR&O activities.
• Verify the accuracy and timely completion of all work orders.
• Ensure proper handling, care, and protection of all customer property.
• Promote and enforce all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient shop environment.
• Provide input on business models and business development for CR&O activities.
• Participate in internal and external audits as required.
• Travel 10%

Qualifications & Job Requirements

Experience and Competencies

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in general aviation or related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience in aviation maintenance or component repair.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft component repair, overhaul, production, and manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, industry vendors, and current procedures for efficient component repair.
• Ability to develop and justify capital expenditures, budgets, and business plans.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation, Business Management, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred.

Other Prerequisites

• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport-issued security badge.

Working Environment

• Work is performed both indoors in a temperature-controlled environment and aircraft hangar environment with moderate noise level. Requires sitting for up to 8 hours a day. Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs. Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials and computer screens. Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
