Job summary

Meta is seeking an experienced Optical Engineering professional in Menlo Park to develop and validate high-speed optical components and lead reliability programs. The role involves analytical testing, failure analysis, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure mass production readiness.

The candidate should have strong Python/MATLAB skills, expertise in InP/Silicon photonics, and experience with advanced modulation formats.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Sciences and Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in development and validation of optical communication components such as lasers, transmitters, receivers, and transceivers.
  • 5+ years of experience in high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment, control, data acquisition and test automation.
  • Programming skills in Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience with optical integration, including InP PICs, Silicon-photonic PICs, PIC-IC integration, and 3D optical/silicon packaging technologies.
  • Experience with advanced modulation formats, direct detect and coherent systems (e.g., NRZ, PAM-4, QPSK, 8-QAM, 16QAM).
  • Experience in high-speed optical and electrical test (both component and system level) and test automation.
  • Experience in creating or influencing product reliability test strategies and methodologies.
