Job Description

Job Title: Component Design Engineer - Turbomachinery Transmissions

Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Indianapolis, IN/Hybrid - 3 Office Days/Week

As a Component Design Engineer, you will be part of the Global Mechanical Systems Capability function. You will create engineering solutions that satisfy functional and physical requirements at the Product System and Sub-System level. The solutions must be robust for manufacturing capability. You will ensure the on-time delivery and quality of component design artifacts such as documents, models, and definitions that meet system and sub-system requirements. You will participate within an IPT described by Product Lifecycle System (PLS) and follow Rolls-Royce Management System (RRMS) policies. You will also be responsible for sub-system integration and lifecycle profitability through Supply Chain Design.

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver new component designs, analyses, and changes within the Design Technical Approval (DTA) process, including creating design concepts, preparing technical documentation, supporting drawings, analysis, hardware delivery, and release.
  • Support procurement, concession consultation, and execution of Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs).
  • Provide engineering support for hardware issues including Engine Investigations and Technical Variance analysis.
  • Develop and specify component design requirements aligned with module, system, and customer needs.
  • Address manufacturing, assembly, in-field, and aftermarket issues.
  • Participate in or lead Root Cause and Corrective Action teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in mechanical engineering with 1+ years of experience or higher degrees as specified.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aerospace mechanical components/systems design, analysis, or verification.
  • Experience with gas turbines or turbomachinery components.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX, Siemens Teamcenter, ANSYS, Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerance stack-ups.
  • Understanding of gas turbine subsystems.
