Descripción del empleo

Intuitive Machines - West is seeking a Component Buyer to support procurement of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts and precision-machined flight and non-flight hardware for spacecraft programs. This role is critical to ensuring on-time, cost-effective, and quality-compliant sourcing of long-lead and mission-critical flight components in support of aggressive spacecraft build schedules. The ideal candidate has experience navigating aerospace-grade component sourcing, understands EEE parts qualification and traceability requirements, and can manage supplier relationships for both electronic components and precision machined/fabricated parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source, negotiate, and purchase EEE parts (semiconductors, connectors, passives, relays, etc.) and machined/fabricated flight hardware in accordance with program schedules and specifications.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality requirements (AS9100), and export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).
  • Track long-lead items and obsolescence risk for EEE components; support Last Time Buy (LTB) and alternate part qualification efforts.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to resolve technical and schedule issues with suppliers.
  • Manage supplier performance, delivery schedules, and cost/quality/on-time delivery (QCD) metrics.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers (both manufacturers and distributors), and machine shops for multiple company sites.
  • Maintain and update procurement records, including certificates of conformance, material certifications, and traceability documentation required for flight hardware.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities related to nonconforming purchased hardware.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including counterfeit parts risk for EEE components.
  • Support make/buy analysis and sourcing strategy development for new programs.
Minimum Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of procurement/buying experience in aerospace, defense, or a related high-reliability manufacturing environment.

Experience purchasing EEE components and/or precision machined hardware to engineering drawings and specifications.

Familiarity with flight hardware quality/traceability requirements (e.g., certs of compliance, material certs, source inspection).

Understanding of export control regulations (ITAR/EAR) as they apply to procurement.

Strong negotiation, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills.

Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office/Excel.

Ability to work in multiple systems (support multiple sites).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with obsolescence management and alternate/second-source qualification for EEE parts.

Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems.

Experience working with machine shops on precision-machined aerospace components (tolerances, materials, surface finishes).

Knowledge of counterfeit parts avoidance practices (AS5553 or similar).

Experience with long-lead procurement planning for spacecraft or satellite programs.
