About the Role:

We are looking for a component assembler to join our 2nd shift team. Metal Detector Component Assemblers are responsible for the initial assembly of Eriez industrial metal detectors, to include coil winding, potting and the installation of waterproof liners. Each assembler must maintain Eriez strict standards to ensure the easier electronic tuning and the proper operation of every metal detector. When the work load in Metal Detection is low, this position will backfill as a Level 1 Parts finisher for MD components.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assemble/wind MD coil assemblies to meet established standards
  • Perform assembly work in metal detector as directed by supervisor/leadman.
  • Continue to train and guide junior employees to perform at a high level within the department.
  • Properly layout, drill, tap, cut, grind, etc. as required.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Complete tasks timely and efficiently in accordance with expectations as directed by supervisor.
  • Able to operate tools including but not limited to, hand tools, manual machine tools, torch, drill press, thermo-plastic welding equipment, etc.
  • Ability to learn Eriez labor and work order collection system.
  • Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to read and use industrial blueprints preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and use basic shop math including decimals and fractions.
  • Able to read and follow engineering drawings, assembly procedures, instruction manuals and material/pick lists to complete assemblies.
  • Able to use specialized tools/fixtures, both electrical and mechanical to complete assembly.
  • Able to properly use and handle epoxies, compounds, chemicals, and dispensing equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently with a wide variety of hand and power tools; manual dexterity to assemble small fragile components.
  • Ability to operate walk behind forklift in order to place and remove items from department shelving.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and guide junior employees and assist them as needed in extensive troubleshooting circumstances.

Hourly pay Range - $17.45/hr. to $19.19/hr. (commensurate with experience) + 6% second shift differential premium
