JOB DESCRIPTION

Empower is seeking an experienced Consumer Compliance Testing Lead to oversee our enterprise-wide monitoring and testing plan. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of consumer protection regulations applicable to deposit, early wage access, and consumer lending. We value creativity, organization, and diligence, and are looking for strategic thinkers who are eager to learn our products and advocate for compliance within our team.

Empower operates in a remote-first environment, with regular company offsites. Travel to offsites is expected at least twice a year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute risk-based regulatory compliance testing and evaluate control design and effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage compliance risk monitoring dashboards.
  • Review policies, procedures, and training materials against regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Prepare clear, concise testing reports with actionable insights for management and the board.
  • Assist in the company’s compliance risk assessment processes.
  • Support initiatives to mature the Compliance program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience, preferably in consumer lending.
  • Experience with compliance monitoring/testing, including scripting, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer protection laws such as ECOA, TILA, FCRA, SCRA, MLA, GLBA, FDCPA, UDAAP, etc.
  • Ability to communicate complex regulations clearly to non-experts.
  • Interest and aptitude for new technologies and tools.
  • SQL experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
