Job summary

GEODIS in Carson, CA is seeking a Compliance Supervisor - FTZ to ensure foreign trade zone compliance in partnership with the warehouse operations team. You will establish procedures and monitor activities across shipments, inventory, and regulatory adherence.

You will coordinate with clients, AOS and government officials, prepare FTZ reports, train staff, and uphold ISO/compliance standards while maintaining high customer satisfaction and safe operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must be PC literate and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to present information to managers, clients, and public audiences.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or scheduling instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and monitors procedures for verification/validation of shipments and inventory.
  • Applies regulatory and customs decisions to product classifications.
  • Meets with clients, AOS and government officials to review FTZ product lines.
  • Prepares FTZ data reporting and daily variance reports.
  • Manages and trains employees on FTZ requirements and compliance.
  • Ensures high customer satisfaction and timely follow-up on concerns.
  • Ensures safe warehouse operation and ISO compliance where applicable.
  • Directs and evaluates assigned unit(s) and addresses complaints.
  • Oversees staffing, training, and payroll reporting.
  • Maintains profitability of the account/warehouse where applicable.

Job description

Compliance Supervisor - FTZ (Foreign Trade Zone)

The FTZ Compliance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring FTZ compliance in partnership with the facility Operation Management team.

What you will be doing
  • Establishes and monitors operational procedures for activities such as verification/validation of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, current warehouse inventory sync with AOS system and timely variance reporting.
  • Applies regulatory, judicial, international and/or Customs and Border Protection decisions/views to products being classified.
  • Meets with client, AOS and/or government officials to review FTZ product lines.
  • Prepares various reports which assist in daily operations such as upcoming FTZ related inbounds, daily item variances between Synapse and AOS systems and other reports as identified.
  • Prepares reports such as weekly/monthly/quarterly FTZ data reporting.
  • Manages and trains other employees on FTZ requirements and procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures high level of customer satisfaction by communicating frequently with customers and following up on customer concerns and requests.
  • Ensures safe operation of the warehouse including meeting company standards for sanitation, maintenance, security and housekeeping.
  • Ensures adequate staffing, training, coaching and counseling for employee.
  • Reports employees’ hours worked to payroll on a weekly basis.
  • Ensures ISO compliance, where applicable.
  • Manages subordinates by interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining.
  • Directs, coordinates, and evaluates assigned unit(s) by carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Ensures the profitability of the account/warehouse as applicable.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and training
  • Must be PC literate and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
