Job summary

Allspring Global Investments seeks a Compliance Officer to lead the Global Privacy Program and support the firm’s broader Compliance Program. This role interacts with Legal, Technology, Risk and business teams to implement privacy requirements and protect personal data throughout its lifecycle.

The position requires reviewing vendors, applications, and contracts for privacy and data protection provisions, monitoring evolving laws, and guiding compliance projects.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of asset management compliance experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
  • BS/BA degree or higher.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Experience with issue resolution including root cause analysis and remediation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing administration and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program.
  • Review new vendors, applications, technologies, and business initiatives to identify privacy risks and ensure data governance.
  • Support vendor offboarding to ensure proper retention, protection, transfer, or destruction of data.
  • Serve as SME and admin for the firm's privacy governance platform, maintaining inventories and reports.
  • Partner with Legal and business stakeholders to review contracts ensuring privacy and confidentiality provisions.
  • Monitor privacy laws and industry developments and implement policy changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and business lines to implement and maintain program activities.
  • Escalate and validate issues identified during reviews; lead projects with minimal supervision.
  • Promote positive relationships with business teams and management; perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Team Member will be an integral part of the Allspring Compliance Program team leading the Allspring Global Investments Global Privacy Program in addition to supporting various Compliance Program activities. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization maintains effective privacy governance practices, complies with applicable privacy laws and regulations, and appropriately manages personal and sensitive information throughout its lifecycle. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert for the firm's privacy governance platform, support the review of business initiatives and third-party relationships, and partner closely with Legal, Technology, Risk, and business teams to implement and maintain privacy requirements. The Team Member will also conduct various Compliance Program activities including supporting the firm's regulatory compliance, various compliance-related projects and compliance oversight activities to support the Asset Management risk-based compliance program to assure compliance with significant regulatory requirements as well as firm policies.

The Team Member will also ensure identified compliance issues are escalated, addressed and validated in accordance with firm Policies, participate in compliance projects, as needed, including diving into specific regulatory developments and working groups, and will demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking talents to make independent assessments, articulate recommendations, and defend conclusions.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 4 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Support the ongoing administration and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program.
  • Review new vendors, applications, technologies, and business initiatives to ensure privacy risks, data handling practices, and information governance requirements are appropriately identified, documented, and addressed.
  • Support application and vendor offboarding processes to help ensure information is retained, protected, transferred, or securely destroyed in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and primary administrator for the firm's privacy governance platform, including maintaining data inventories, workflows, records, reporting, and related controls.
  • Partner with Legal and business stakeholders to review contracts and agreements, helping ensure appropriate privacy, data protection, and confidentiality provisions are included and documented.
  • Monitor privacy laws, regulations, and industry developments, and support the implementation of changes to policies, procedures, and controls as needed.
  • Work effectively with Compliance and business line subject matter experts to implement and maintain compliance program activities.
  • Communicate, escalated, address and validate issues identified during compliance reviews.
  • Lead and manage projects with minimal supervision related to new products, regulations, or procedures for the Compliance team.
  • Exercise effective communication and promote positive relationships with business team members and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in asset management compliance and/or comparable function
  • Strong understanding of and experience applying and analyzing the Investment Company Act of 1940 and Investment Advisers Act of 1940
  • BS/BA degree or higher
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills; able to effectively interact with senior management, investment personnel, and clients
  • Ability to identify and manage various conflicts of interest
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others in a fast-paced, global, deadline driven environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to be successful in a working environment that requires flexibility and independence with ambiguous situations and constant change to achieve desired outcome/objectives
  • Able to evaluate complex programs and initiatives and provide credible challenge to opportunities and concerns
  • Experience with issue resolution including root cause analysis, mitigation plans and remediation activities
  • Pragmatic problem-solver, forward thinker

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity of privacy regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrate ownership beyond assigned tasks by identifying issues, proposing solutions, and contributing to final decision
  • Demonstrates an "auditready" mindset, approaching work with the expectation that decisions, data, and documentation may be subject to review.
  • Ability to understand and work within complex corporate and multientity structures, including how regulatory obligations apply across affiliated investment advisers and related entities.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
