Compliance Manager – Renewable Energy (Remote | Solar Focused)

We’re looking for a Compliance Manager to support the growth of a national solar energy platform by ensuring that projects meet regulatory and incentive-driven compliance requirements at both the federal and state level. This role is ideal for someone with experience in renewable energy who thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments and enjoys diving into the details of evolving policy landscapes like the Inflation Reduction Act and Illinois Shines program.

Role Responsibilities:

• Manage third-party consultants supporting compliance with the Prevailing Wage Act (PWA), Illinois Minimum Equity Standards (MES), and other state-specific policies.
• Facilitate onboarding of project documentation into compliance platforms and track corrective actions to maintain program eligibility.
• Prepare, submit, and manage annual compliance reports, including waiver requests and updates for Illinois MES.
• Draft, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to compliance workflows.
• Communicate updates, flag risks, and escalate key issues to senior leadership.
• Support project financing and due diligence efforts by ensuring accurate compliance reporting.
• Monitor and track obligations under EPC agreements related to compliance.

Skills and Competencies:

• A solid understanding and passion for the solar industry—experience with community solarand the Illinois Shines program is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; experience managing compliance programs and audits.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• 3+ years of experience in the solar or broader renewable energy industry.
• Comfortable working in a remote environment with ~10% travel.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
