Job Summary

The Compliance Manager coordinates with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and other Compliance Managers to track the regulatory requirements for each licensed facility operated by the Arizona State Hospital. The role conducts performance audits and mock surveys, develops audit tools, researches regulations, provides technical assistance, participates in committees, and serves as backup to the CCO for regulatory entities. The Compliance Manager also facilitates contract evaluations and supports departmental compliance.

Job Duties
  • Conduct performance audits and mock surveys to evaluate ASH’s compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop audit tools and collaborate with subject matter experts to guide mock surveys.
  • Compile survey findings and deficiencies, and report results to the ASH Compliance Committee.
  • Research state licensing rules, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and CMS regulations.
  • Support departments by providing research findings, feedback from mock surveys, and technical assistance to sustain compliance.
  • Participate in hospital committees and meetings such as the Environment of Care Committee and the Complaints, Grievances, and Appeals Committee.
  • Conduct periodic rounds throughout the campus and patient units to assess compliance and address staff questions.
  • Serve as a point of contact for CMS, The Joint Commission, and state licensing surveyors when the CCO is unavailable.
  • Coordinate with the CCO in the development of plans of correction in response to survey findings.
  • Conduct focused audits as requested by executive management and other hospital departments.
  • Facilitate contract evaluations and performance evaluations of ASH contractors and vendors at least annually.
  • Participate in meetings with ADHS Procurement to provide feedback on contract monitoring and enforcement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the position (typically 5% – 10%).

Pre-Employment Requirements
  • A State Hospital employee must obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. 41‑1758.07.
Driving Is Required For State Business
  • Employees who drive on state business must possess a current, valid state‑issued driver’s license and maintain acceptable driving records. Driver training is required as per Arizona Administrative Code R2‑10‑207.11.
