Overview

Compliance and Risk Advisor

DonorConnect is looking for a full-time Compliance and Risk Advisor. The Advisor supports organizational compliance, risk management, and safety programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical standards. This role monitors trends, audits activities, and performance data while developing proactive strategies to address regulatory changes and operational risks. They lead incident reporting, root cause analysis, and Enterprise Risk Management processes, working with leadership and external partners to mitigate risks and strengthen accountability. The Advisor develops and maintains patient and donor safety practices and initiatives, ensuring risks are minimized, regulatory requirements are met, and outcomes consistently prioritize donor and patient wellbeing while driving inspection, survey and accreditation readiness. Through education, collaboration, and coaching, the advisor fosters a culture of compliance, safety, and continuous improvement across the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training/Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business administration, law, health sciences, or related field required, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), or related credential

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of compliance, risk management, or regulatory experience in healthcare
  • In-depth knowledge of CMS, OPTN/UNOS, FDA, OSHA, and HIPAA requirements
  • Proficient in regulatory analysis and impact assessments, technical writing and actionable policy development
  • Experience leading audits, surveys, and regulatory inspections
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Prior OPO, transplant, or organ/tissue recovery experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • In-depth understanding of OPO regulatory requirements, industry standards, and the ability to interpret and adhere to applicable regulations
  • Models ethical decision-making, fosters a culture of compliance, and upholds the organization's core values
  • Anticipates regulatory trends, reasons logically, evaluates diverse perspectives, and develops proactive strategies
  • Works effectively across departments and with external partners, including tissue processors, regulatory agencies, and hospital partners
  • Inspires, develops, and holds team members accountable while mentoring junior staff and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Clearly conveys complex compliance concepts through excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to move up to 10 pounds at times with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
