Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Compliance and HR Specialist to ensure our organization adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies while fostering a healthy and productive workplace. This dual-role position is responsible for overseeing compliance risk management and human resources operations, including policy development, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, policies, and grant requirements to ensure organizational adherence.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments.
  • Train staff on compliance requirements, ethical standards, and organizational policies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and external auditors.
  • Assist in maintaining Company licensing and accreditation.
  • Investigate compliance issues and coordinate resolution strategies.
  • Manage Company’s electronic policy management system.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of industry and Company specific regulations such as IDHS Administrative Rule 2060 and The Joint Commission’s Behavioral Health Care and Human Services manual.

Human Resources Responsibilities:

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Manage employee relations, ensuring a fair and consistent approach to HR practices.
  • Assist in administering compensation and benefits programs.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure HR policies comply with local labor laws.
  • Lead performance management and professional development initiatives.
  • Work with the Directors and outside legal team to handle workplace investigations and disciplinary processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field. Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., CHC, PHR, CCEP, CCHP) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a compliance or HR management role.
  • Experience in the healthcare compliance industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience with The Joint Commission and/or IDHS Department of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, regulatory compliance standards, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong reading comprehension and sound critical thinking skills are paramount.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft O365 and the full Office Suite including Excel, Word, OneDrive, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to aggregate data across multiple electronic platforms into accurate and understandable presentations.
