Job summary

april is seeking a Compliance Analyst to support day-to-day compliance operations under the Legal function in New York, with a hybrid schedule. Remote US candidates are welcome if aligned with Eastern time.

You will manage reviews, investigations, vendor intake, and regulatory updates while supporting audits and AI governance initiatives. The role emphasizes building judgment, handling sensitive information, and growing into increasingly complex compliance matters within a fintech/tax software

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of experience in compliance, risk, privacy, or a closely related function.
• Familiarity with at least one of: U.S. financial privacy law, data privacy frameworks, third‑party risk management, or regulatory compliance in financial services or tax.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills; organized; track record of keeping trackers accurate and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compliance reviews, monitoring, and testing across regulatory obligations.
• Review and investigate potential compliance issues, document findings, and escalate where appropriate.
• Identify control gaps and assist with remediation and follow-up.
• Assist with regulatory reporting, audits, and compliance assessments.
• Monitor regulatory developments relevant to tax software, data privacy, and financial services; summarize matters and update internal policies.
• Run point on customer due diligence requests: third‑party risk questionnaires, compliance and privacy due diligence questionnaires, audit requests, and ongoing monitoring.
• Work with Security to deliver accurate answers across security, privacy, and regulatory questionnaires, and maintain the Legal/compliance answer bank.
• Own the vendor compliance intake process: risk‑tier new vendors, collect and review their security and privacy documentation, and route for review.
• Keep policies current, track review dates, manage version control, and drive annual review and approval cycle.
• Coordinate compliance training: schedule it, track completion, and help write content.
• Support the AI governance program, including inventory of AI use cases, vendor and model documentation, and review workflows.

About the role

We are looking for an Compliance Analyst to support day-to-day compliance operations and work directly under the Legal function. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in regulatory compliance, risk management, controls, and investigative processes who is ready to take on increasing ownership and operate with a high degree of judgment and professionalism. This is a hands‑on role with room to grow and take ownership of increasingly complex compliance matters.

Location: This role is based in New York, NY on a hybrid schedule, and that is our preference. We will consider remote candidates in the United States who can work on Eastern time

Key responsibilities

• Conduct compliance reviews, monitoring, and testing across april's regulatory obligations.
• Review and investigate potential compliance issues, document findings, and escalate where appropriate.
• Identify control gaps and assist with remediation and follow‑up.
• Assist with regulatory reporting, audits, and compliance assessments.
• Monitor regulatory developments relevant to tax software, data privacy, and financial services; summarize what matters for april; and propose and help implement updates to internal policies and procedures.
• Run point on customer due diligence requests: third‑party risk management questionnaires, compliance and privacy due diligence questionnaires, audit requests, and ongoing monitoring asks from customers.
• Work with the Security team to deliver consistent, accurate answers across security, privacy, and regulatory questionnaires, and maintain the Legal/compliance answer bank.
• Own the vendor compliance intake process: risk‑tier new vendors, collect and review their security and privacy documentation, and route anything that needs Legal or Security review.
• Keep april's compliance policies current, track review dates, manage version control, and drive the annual review and approval cycle.
• Coordinate compliance training: schedule it, track completion, and help write content that people will read.
• Support the AI governance program, including the inventory of AI use cases, vendor and model documentation, and review workflows.

Experience

• 1–4 years of experience in compliance, risk, privacy, or a closely related function, ideally at a regulated company or a firm serving regulated clients.
• Working familiarity with at least one of: U.S. financial privacy law, data privacy frameworks, third‑party risk management, or regulatory compliance in financial services or tax.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills, organizational habits. You keep trackers accurate, meet deadlines without being chased, and leave a record others can pick up.
• Comfortable working independently and handling sensitive information.

Nice to Have

• Experience at a fintech, bank, or tax software company, or in a role supporting those clients.
• Exposure to IRC, IRS e‑file provider rules, or tax‑industry data protection requirements.
• Experience responding to bank or financial‑institution due diligence questionnaires, or working inside a compliance management tool.
• Privacy or compliance certification, or active progress toward one.
