Job summary

First Continental Mortgage, Ltd. is seeking a Compliance Analyst to support its compliance management system and ensure adherence to federal and state mortgage lending laws across the organization.

The role reports to the Vice President of Compliance and partners with all departments to minimize regulatory risk. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of mortgage compliance experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mortgage compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal mortgage lending regulations.
  • Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulatory guidance.
  • Understanding of mortgage origination, underwriting, processing, closing, and servicing functions.
  • Familiarity with agency guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze federal and state mortgage lending laws and regulations.
  • Communicate regulatory updates and their impact on operations.
  • Ensure compliance with TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, FHA, FCRA, SAFE Act, BSA/AML, and state rules.
  • Perform routine compliance monitoring of mortgage loan files.
  • Review policies and procedures for regulatory compliance.
  • Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with implementing new regulatory requirements and policy revisions.
  • Support internal and external examinations, audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Prepare compliance reports and risk assessments.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and audit records.
  • Assist with oversight of third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate with processing, underwriting, closing, servicing teams to resolve issues.
  • Deliver compliance training to employees.
  • Respond to compliance inquiries from internal partners.
  • Perform marketing and advertising reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

For over 30 years, First Continental Mortgage (FCM) and its affiliates have shared a common purpose to help families realize the American dream of owning a home! FCM is a full-service, FNMA, HUD and VA approved national mortgage lending firm. We specialize in partnering with Home Builders as well as retail production. FCM funded $2.6 Billion in 2024 through affiliated business arrangements with 10 different home builders, 5 of which rank in the Top 65 Home Builders in the country.

FCM is currently seeking a Compliance Analyst. This role will report to the Vice President of Compliance.

The Compliance Analyst supports the company's compliance management system by helping ensure adherence to applicable federal and state mortgage lending laws, regulations, investor requirements, and internal policies for FCM and its affiliates. The Compliance Analyst helps maintain a strong culture of compliance while minimizing regulatory and operational risk. The Compliance Analyst partners with all departments to ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements and to support the organization's growth and business objectives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze federal and state mortgage lending laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and communicate changes that impact mortgage operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations including, but not limited to:
    • Truth in Lending Act (TILA)
    • Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
    • Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA)
    • Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
    • Fair Housing Act (FHA)
    • Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
    • Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act)
    • Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML), as applicable
    • State mortgage lending regulations
  • Perform routine compliance monitoring of mortgage loan files.
  • Review policies, procedures, and operational processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Assist with implementation of new regulatory requirements and policy revisions.
  • Support internal and external compliance examinations, audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Prepare compliance reports, risk assessments, and management summaries.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, testing results, and audit records.
  • Assist with oversight and management of third-party vendors.
  • Partner with processing, underwriting, closing, servicing, and operation teams to resolve compliance issues.
  • Assist in developing and delivering compliance training to employees.
  • Respond to compliance inquiries from internal partners and management.
  • Perform marketing and advertising reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the compliance department of a mortgage lender, mortgage broker, correspondent lender, or financial services organization.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal mortgage lending regulations.
  • Ability to interpret laws, rules, regulations, and regulatory guidance.
  • Understanding of mortgage origination, underwriting, processing, closing, and servicing functions.
  • Familiarity with agency and investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Encompass.
  • Experience supporting multiple entities.
  • Compliance certifications or industry designations are a plus.
  • Located in Houston or Austin.
