Job summary

HCA Healthcare Laboratory Services is seeking a Complex Specimen Processor PRN to join our team in Florida. The role involves receiving specimens into our lab information system, processing and sorting specimens for referral testing, labeling accurately, centrifuging, and preparing specimens for courier pickup.

You will keep records up to date and troubleshoot testing issues as they arise. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with a vocational/technical diploma beneficial, and 1–3

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• A Vocational/Technical diploma is beneficial.
• 1–3 years of experience in a market or commercial clinical laboratory setting.
• Experience with patients across age groups from infancy to geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Receive laboratory specimens into the laboratory information system.
• Process, sort, and prepare specimens for submission to referral laboratories.
• Label specimens and aliquots according to protocols and testing ordered.
• Centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
• Prepare specimens for courier pickup.
• Maintain records/documentation of specimen problems and corrective actions.
• Assess specimen requirements for referral testing and troubleshoot issues.
• Review Outstanding Specimen Report and pending referral testing issues.

Job Summary And Qualifications

You Will

• Receive of laboratory specimens into the laboratory information system; Process, sort, and prepare specimens for submission to referral laboratories
• Label specimens and aliquots according to established protocols and according to testing ordered
• Centrifuge and aliquots specimens
• Prepare specimens for courier pick-up
• Keep appropriate records/documentation relating to specimen problems and take corrective action to ensure validity and accuracy of testing
• Assess specimen requirements for referral testing and troubleshoot any specimen requirement and/or referral testing specimen or order entry issues
• Review Outstanding Specimen Report (OSR) and pending referral testing issues

You Should Have

• A completed High School Diploma or GED
• A Vocational/Technical diploma is beneficial
• 1-3 years of experience in a market or commercial clinical laboratory setting
• A wide range of experience with patients in all age groups from infancy to geriatrics
