Job summary

American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is seeking a Complex Claims Director/Examiner focused on Federal Workers Compensation, including Defense Base Act claims.

You will handle investigations, settlements, and provide expert guidance across claims teams. You will mentor Claim Representatives, collaborate with underwriting, brokers, and clients' lawyers, and ensure cost-effective settlements while maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements for Federal Workers Compensation claims.
• Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims.
• Proven experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation.
• Policy language skills enabling accurate policy wording interpretation.
• Strong communication, time management, administrative and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Utilize investigation, claim handling, litigation, and negotiation skills to ensure timely, cost-effective settlements.
• Provide prompt, effective customer service to differentiate AIG from competitors.
• Regularly contact internal stakeholders, brokers, medical experts, clients’ lawyers, and injured workers or their representatives.
• Proactively identify and review suspect or fraudulent claims with clear guidelines.
• Exercise independent decision making with reserve and settlement authority up to $500,000.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to Claim Representatives.
• Collaborate with underwriting to use claims experience to improve products.
