Job summary

AIG is seeking a claims professional in New York City with a strong background in complex insurance claims and litigation. The role involves evaluating exposures, presenting cases, and developing resolution strategies.

Collaboration with underwriting and external counsel is essential, with a focus on maintaining financial control of budgets and achieving service excellence. The position requires a strong academic background (Bachelor’s or JD preferred) and a proven ability to analyze policies

Qualifications

• Strong track record handling complex insurance claims, litigation or related experience (preferably Financial Lines).
• Ability to analyze policies and legal documents in detail.
• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of litigation/arbitration processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Make coverage determinations, investigate losses, evaluate exposures and project potential risk.
• Present cases, set reserves and develop resolution strategies.
• Collaborate with underwriting and deliver differentiated value to customers and partners.
• Coordinate with counsel, vendors and insureds to manage budgets and expenses.

How You Will Create An Impact

• Making coverage determinations, investigating losses, evaluating and projecting potential exposures
• Making case presentations, setting judgmental reserves, developing and implementing resolution strategies
• Effectively strategizing and budgeting litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors and insureds. Establish with defense and coverage counsel clear ground rules in order to maintain financial control of budget and expenses.
• Collaborating with underwriting and delivering differentiated value and service to our customers and distribution partners

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• A strong track record of handling complex insurance claims, litigation or other related experience, preferably within Financial Lines
• Demonstrated ability to analyze policies of insurance and legal documents
• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of the litigation and arbitration process
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; a Juris Doctor is preferred

For positions based in New York City, the base salary range is $122,000-$150,000. For positions based in Boston, the base salary range is $122,000 - $150,000. For positions based in Chicago, the base salary range is $120,000 - $150,000. For positions based in Atlanta, the base salary range is $83,000 - $116,000. Also, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
