Job summary

AMD in Austin is seeking an end‑to‑end performance engineer to own enterprise and database workloads where CPU behavior, memory hierarchy and software tuning determine competitive outcomes. You will be the primary workload authority for AMD EPYC versus Intel Xeon, with opportunities to evaluate Arm platforms as they enter enterprise use cases.

You will deploy, tune, profile, perform root‑cause analysis and communicate results clearly, aiming to diagnose bottlenecks and reproduce results in a lab

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience with enterprise or server workloads at scale is preferred.
• Strong Linux and system administration skills, including scripting and repeatable environment setup.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain an enterprise workload taxonomy spanning relational databases, Java, analytics, virtualization and other priority server applications.
• Develop rigorous methods for throughput, latency, tail latency, scale‑up and scale‑out behavior and SLAs.
• Analyze AMD versus Intel performance focusing on core configuration, frequency and memory behavior, and platform setup.
• Evaluate compiler, JVM, database, kernel and library tuning to reflect realistic deployment choices.
