Responsibilities

Summary: The Compensation Department builds andmaintains global programs and systems which contribute to attracting talent, fair and consistent employee renumeration, career paths, workforce planning and budgeting. The Compensation Specialist position will participate in the analysis, communication and administration of compensation programs. This individual contributes to the annual compensation cycles, HR system administration, maintaining job and compensation structures and ensures the accuracy of compensation data for budgeting, financial reporting and analysis purposes. This position is based in Trident’s Seattle (Ballard Neighborhood) offices.

  • Assists Compensation team members and HR Business Partners on job description development, job evaluations, job leveling and job classification activities
  • Assists in gathering and documenting job content, organizational information, duties, responsibilities, and required skills through questionnaires, interviews and other information sources
  • Contributes to the development, enhancement, and documentation of compensation-related forms, processes and workflows
  • Supports compensation programs including annual merit cycles, promotion cycles, short-term, and long-term incentive programs
  • Assists with creation and updating of compensation program materials
  • Participates in administration of intranet resources
  • Supports job benchmarking activities by compiling survey data, conducting research, and preparing market pricing analyses for review by senior compensation team members
  • Assists with maintaining global job architecture and compensation structures by updating systems, documentation, and related records.
  • Coordinates salary survey submissions, market assessments and associated analysis
  • Updates system tools used for compensation administration, budget and workforce planning, ensuring that data is complete and accurate
  • Conducts data audits and basic analyses and prepares reports and findings for review by compensation leadership
  • Supports special projects for ad hoc compensation analyses across a variety of areas
  • Assists with the preparation and delivery of compensation training materials and communications
  • Monitors and audits pay practices to ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, and wage and hour laws
  • Assists with FLSA assessments and related documentation
  • Responds to routine compensation inquiries and supports HR Business Partners with compensation-related processes, including new positions, hires, and promotions
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of compensation practices, trends, and applicable legislation
  • Monitors the Compensation team inbox, triages incoming inquiries, and routes requests to the appropriate team member for resolution

Qualifications

RequiredQualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications)

  • Minimum of 1 year of Compensation, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting or Data Analyst experience

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience supporting compensation, HR, payroll, benefits, finance, or workforce analytics functions
  • Maritime, manufacturing, seafood, or other operational industry experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • Experience working with HRIS or other business systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines

Work environment:

In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.

This is an on-site position based at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

Work Ability Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and work at a computer for extended periods. The role frequently requires use of a computer and other office equipment, including repetitive hand and finger movements. The employee must be able to communicate effectively and exchange information with others. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to view computer screens for extended periods.
