Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P. is seeking a Compensation Manager to lead day-to-day compensation processes, ensure compliance, and build strong HR partner relationships. You will supervise compensation analysts, deliver guidance on total compensation, and drive strategic initiatives across PTL and PL units.

The role requires 6+ years in compensation, CCP certification, and a proven ability to coach teams. This hybrid position is based at our corporate office in Reading, PA with travel as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent compensation experience.
  • 6+ years in compensation or related field in a multi-state environment.
  • Experience with variable pay plans, budget/structure activities, and job evaluation methods.
  • CCP certification required or pursued within 1–2 years; PHR/SHRM-CP a plus.
  • 3+ years of management experience preferred; HR/Finance analytics a plus.
  • Internal Penske field experience is a plus; strong communication skills.
  • Team leadership mindset with customer-centric, results-driven approach.
  • Regular, predictable attendance and travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop compensation analysts; oversee field and corporate teams.
  • Advise HR Partners and managers on salary levels and total compensation solutions.
  • Lead job evaluation, market pricing, budget and structure analyses; large-scale initiatives.
  • Provide compensation training and ensure policy/regulatory alignment.
  • Support international compensation and other projects as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

The Compensation Manager is responsible for managing the day to day compensation processes within the department with a focus on compliance, customer service, and building relationships with HR business partners. Supervise and develop a team of compensation analysts supporting PTL and PL business units. Provide compensation consultation and guidance to the business to develop total compensation solutions.


This is an on-site position 4 days per week, and 1 day work from home per week, at our Corporate Office in Reading, PA


Major Responsibilities


  • Manage, coach, and develop team of compensation analysts. Oversee analysts supporting Field and Corporate operations.

    • Create an engaged, collaborate environment among analysts and provide continuous coaching and guidance.

    • Establish strong working relationships among team and serve as an escalation point for analysts if needed.



  • Consultation to HR Business Partners and Corporate/Field Operations

    • Provide guidance to HR Managers and Corp/Field managers regarding salary levels for associates and develop total compensation solutions.

    • Actively participate in HR meetings and offer compensation support. This includes providing compensation advice and recommendations when needed.

    • Provide training on compensation philosophy, practices, and systems. Ensure that training is kept up to date and aligns with current policies and regulations.



  • Lead compensation processes and/or projects to include the following:

    • Job evaluation and market pricing

    • Annual budget and structure analysis

    • In depth compensation analysis including pay fairness and regulatory reviews

    • Large scale, company-wide compensation initiatives

    • International compensation support



  • Other projects as assigned by the Director, Compensation


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree required or must have equivalent and relevant compensation experience.

  • 6 years Compensation or related experience required, preferably in a multi-state environment.

  • Experience with variable pay plans, budget and structure activities, and job evaluation methodologies required.

  • CCP required or willingness to obtain within 1-2 years of entering the role. PHR or SHRM-CP a plus.

  • 3 years management experience strongly preferred.

  • 3 years HR/Finance Analytics strongly preferred.

  • Internal Penske field experience a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Team leadership skills and a desire to help others develop and succeed.

  • Customer centric and results driven.

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
