Job summary

Florida Gulf Coast University is seeking a Coordinator, Compensation & Classification to support the administration of the university's classification and compensation programs. The role requires independent judgment to provide technical guidance to internal and external partners and to ensure consistent application of practices in line with university policies.

Responsibilities include conducting compensation analyses, advising on salary actions, and partnering with the Talent Acquisition team

Qualifications

  • Requires six years of directly related full-time experience or a Bachelor's degree with two years related experience.
  • Full-time experience in Human Resources, business administration, or closely related area.
  • Experience with personal computers using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the administration of the university's classification structure and compensation programs.
  • Consults with university partners to assess business needs and provides recommendations based on career progression, talent attraction and retention strategies, applicable employment laws, and university policies and guidelines.
  • Conducts compensation analyses and recommends salary actions, including reclassifications, temporary additional duties and interim appointments, market adjustments, merit increases, and discretionary salary increases.
  • Partners with the Talent Acquisition team to review employment offers and counteroffers, ensuring alignment with internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Reviews requests for new positions, position modifications, and reclassifications to evaluate job scope, classification, pay grade, and alignment with the university's job family structure.
  • Develops and delivers compensation and classification training and educational resources for university partners.
  • Participates in compensation and salary surveys by benchmarking positions, gathering and validating data, and submitting survey responses within established deadlines.
  • Compiles, maintains, and analyzes compensation data within third-party compensation software and related systems.
  • Assists with compensation and classification initiatives and special projects, including competitive market studies, annual salary increase and promotion processes, job profile maintenance, and continuous process improvement efforts.
