Job summary

Long Valley Animal Hospital in Long Valley, New Jersey, is seeking a compassionate part-time Veterinary Assistant. You will assist in medical, surgical, and dental procedures, maintain records, and support clients with preventive care information. The role offers flexible scheduling and ongoing training opportunities.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year veterinary experience, comfortable with dogs and cats of all sizes, and familiarity with Cornerstone software is a plus. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years veterinary assistant or technician experience.
• Comfortable with dogs/cats of all sizes and temperaments.
• Computer savvy; Cornerstone software experience is a plus.
• Comfortable and skilled in communicating with both clients and coworkers.
• Detail-oriented yet able to work quickly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones.
• Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
• Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Perform physical assessments and record observations.
• Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients.
• Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions.
• Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered.
• Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery.
• Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
• Educating clients on preventive care and product knowledge.
• Customer service in all forms - scheduling appointments, follow-ups, and education.
