Job summary

Newton Falls Animal Hospital in Ohio seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our 5-doctor small-animal practice. You will support anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and in-hospital testing.

The RVT will assist veterinarians during exams, take histories and vital signs, prepare patients for surgery, perform radiographs, handle animals, administer medications, and educate clients. This role emphasizes warmth, teamwork, and professional care.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance over 25 pounds.
• OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Assist in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights; provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Clean and restock exam rooms and labs; assist others to keep public areas clean; maintain equipment.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members including client discussions, patient plans, and concerns.
• Any other duties as assigned.
