Job summary

The Veterinary Technician position at Petco Total Care provides high-quality veterinary care to patients and superb client service. You will work under veterinarians and the Hospital Office Manager, supporting exams, surgeries, anesthesia, and patient records.

You will greet clients, obtain vitals, assist with routine and emergency procedures, manage samples, medications, scheduling, and inventory. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in our hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience in a veterinary practice.
• Teamwork and ability to follow directions in a clinical setting.
• Telephone and computer skills are required for client communication and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain vitals, and document history in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarians with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Restrain patients, collect and process samples, and dispense medications under veterinary direction.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, manage records and inventory, and handle accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge or transfer when needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and support, assist with training new staff, and maintain a clean hospital environment.
