Job summary

Bocage Animal Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians and other technicians in patient care and treatment. You will monitor hospitalized pets, educate clients, and assist with surgical procedures while maintaining inventory and performing routine in-house lab work.

Responsibilities include taking histories and vital signs, preparing patients for surgery, handling samples, radiographs, and medications, and ensuring high standards of client service

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in examinations and surgeries as needed.
• Take histories, vitals, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-house lab tests; send to outside labs when needed.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams and procedures.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness and restock supplies in exam rooms and labs.
