Job summary

HUMBLE VASCULAR SURGICAL CENTER INC is seeking a Unit Assistant to provide clerical support, assist nurses, and help maintain patient records. The role involves teamwork, patient interactions, and basic care tasks under RN supervision.

The candidate will register patients in Meditech, assist with orders, and ensure supplies are stocked. Physical tasks and a fast-paced environment are expected.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated eligibility for employment in the United States.
• High School diploma or equivalent with proof of certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant.
• Must be able to achieve BLS certification within 60 days of employment.
• Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
• Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements.
• Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills in English for interacting with patients, callers, and coworkers.
• Demonstrates communication skills for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
• Demonstrates computer skills in utilizing word processing, integrated database and other functions.
• Ability to use office machines and telephone systems.
• Prior Experience In a Medical Setting Preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties and maintain patient records.
• Assist nurses and collaborate with physicians and other staff.
• Register patients on the computer using Meditech and place orders.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide basic care.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment and assist with accuchecks and EKGs as ordered.
• Provide reception support and help ensure smooth unit operation.
