Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
• Minimum of five years driving experience.
• No points on driving record in the last three years; background check and drug/alcohol testing required.
• Criminal background check required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate a CARTS transit vehicle on a scheduled route to transport passengers to designated locations.
• Maintain records of time at stops, passengers, and mileage.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and disinfect interior surfaces as needed.
• Assist ambulatory passengers and secure wheelchairs and passengers using vehicle restraint systems.
• Provide safe boarding and de-boarding assistance and de-escalate disruptive behavior.
• Follow route maps and GPS directions; communicate via two-way radio.
