Job summary

VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center in Madison, WI is expanding and seeks a Veterinary Assistant for our Surgery Services. This role supports the surgical team with patient intakes, treatments, and post-op care in a fast-paced specialty setting.

Schedule includes Tuesday and Wednesday shifts at 4902 E Broadway, Madison. Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of clinical veterinary experience, strong communication, and a passion for animal care.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of clinical experience in veterinary medicine.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for veterinary medicine and elevating team performance.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgery patient intakes, treatments, and follow-up appointments.
• Provide compassionate support and clear communication to pet parents.
• Collaborate with the Surgery team and other departments.
• Obtain and prepare lab samples (blood, urine, cytology, etc.).
• Perform radiographs and monitor imaging procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs.
