Job summary

The Elmhurst Healthcare seeks a compassionate Speech Therapist to join our team at our skilled nursing facility in Topeka. You will provide comprehensive speech, language, and swallowing therapy to residents, improving communication abilities and quality of life.

Responsibilities include evaluation, treatment planning, and patient education, with emphasis on appropriate care plans and adherence to guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Current state licensure in the state practicing.
  • Experience in long term care or skilled nursing preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of patient care, including evaluation and treatment and documentation.
  • Provide professional treatment for speech, language, hearing, oral motor, swallowing and cognitive disorders.
  • Plan activities and deliver therapeutic services for speech and language disorders.
  • Evaluate patients and develop treatment plans with short- and long-term goals.
  • Act as advocate for current and prospective patients and participate in quality assurance.
