Responsibilities

• Prepares for classroom activities under supervision of certified teacher.
• Performs clerical duties for assigned teacher.
• Assists teacher with instructional classroom duties.
• Assists students in physical/academic environments outside the classroom when applicable.
• Grades papers; helps with records when called upon.
• Assists with individual children's needs when called upon.
• Maintains confidentiality requirements for students.
• Works with special education/general education teachers to implement the instructional program.
• Helps children develop positive feelings about themselves and school.
• Serves as model in developing children's language and behavior.
• Assists in preparing for instruction by collecting and arranging resources and teaching aids.
• Maintains records, scoring, processing, and distributing books and supplies; handles money as needed.
• Assists substitute teachers in the same manner as regular teachers would.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service or self-growth activities.
• Follows district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
