Job summary

Anne Arundel County Animal Services is seeking a full-time Animal Services Technician to manage consistent intake procedures and humane care for animals in our shelter. The role supports behavior, front desk, field services and animal care teams to move animals through the shelter efficiently.

The position requires interaction with the public, performing basic examinations, vaccinations, and treatments, and may include euthanasia when necessary under prescribed procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• 1+ year experience as veterinary technician, including euthanizing animals.
• Knowledge of veterinary technology and animal care.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the public for intake of stray and owner-surrendered animals.
• Perform initial examinations, vaccinations and treatments per SOPs.
• Assist veterinarian and keep medical records; manage housing areas for animals in shelter.
• Euthanize sick, injured or unadoptable animals per regulations and procedures.
• Maintain and document controlled substances logs; use population software for reporting.
