Job summary

The Crisis Center of Comal County in Texas is hiring a Food Services / Case Aide to prepare meals for shelter residents and provide daily operational support in a safe, compassionate environment. You will plan and cook balanced meals, manage food inventory and records, follow USDA/CACFP guidelines, and assist with transportation and shelter duties as needed.

Candidates should be patient, organized, and able to work weekends and holidays as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in institutional or shelter food service preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling.
• Experience with menu planning, meal production, inventory management, and documentation.
• Ability to manage meals independently and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook balanced meals for shelter residents and staff.
• Manage food inventory, ordering, and storage.
• Ensure adherence to USDA/CACFP meal pattern and documentation.
• Transport food and supplies as needed and operate shelter vehicles.
• Provide supportive presence to residents with trauma-informed care.
