Job summary

LifeLine Animal Project is seeking an Intake Specialist to manage the intake process for incoming animals, ensuring accurate data in shelter software and proper care during housing, feeding, and medical checks.

The role requires compassionate interaction with animals and people, ability to work within a fast-paced shelter, and flexibility to cover shifts and support the Intake Coordinator when needed. Training and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Compassion for animals and the people who love them.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and to bend and reach to perform assigned work activities.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance.
• Ability to communicate, understand and follow a variety of oral and written instructions/procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide humane care for animals entering the facility (intake, feeding, housing).
• Conduct intake accurately, including data entry in shelter software and basic health checks.
• Record animal information (weight, age, gender) and perform vaccinations and tests as needed.
• Assist owners surrendering pets and coordinate shelter moves with staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of cages and kennels and follow sanitation protocols.
• Participate in cross training to cover Intake Coordinator duties as needed.
• Adhere to safety protocols and support animal welfare during all operations.
