Job summary

The City of Norwalk is seeking an experienced meal driver to support the Social Services Department. The role involves delivering meals to homebound seniors, loading meals and beverages, and maintaining delivery records as part of daily operations.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, temperature monitoring, proper food handling, and coordinating with program staff. A California driver license and ServSafe knowledge are desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of policies, procedures and goals; good sanitary cleaning practices in the kitchen; sanitary food service practices; principles of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Deliver meals to homebound seniors according to route, schedule, and procedures.
• Report changes in the status of homebound meal participants to designated program staff.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspection and promptly report any deficiencies.
• Maintain vehicle in clean and neat condition at all times.
• Receive and inspect food from caterer.
• Monitor temperatures of food and equipment.
• Deliver the food in a manner compliant with health regulations.
• Clean and sanitize all food contact surfaces.
• Collect donations in a confidential manner.
• Direct elderly participants to other resources for daily living.
• Complete and submit all paperwork for the Daily Nutrition Program in a timely manner.
• Perform six-month assessments on assigned caseload/clients.
