Job summary

Jaybird Senior Living in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Resident Assistant to provide personal care and support per individualized care plans. Works under the Healthcare Coordinator; Nurses Aide certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities: take vital signs, assist with bathing, grooming, transfers, and medication reminders; follow ISPs; document progress; promote activity and engagement; ensure safety and HIPAA compliance. Training included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Minimum six months caregiving experience, preferably with elderly residents.
• Completion of required medication management course.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Professionalism and ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs; report deviations to supervising nurse per ISP.
• Assist residents with personal care including bathing, grooming, toileting, and reminders for medications.
• Follow ISPs and daily task sheets; communicate status changes to supervisors.
• Utilize standard precautions and infection control procedures.
• Maintain safe and clean resident environments; document progress timely.
• Encourage resident engagement in activities.
• Uphold HIPAA confidentiality and adhere to policies.
• Attend biweekly in-service meetings and mandatory trainings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
