Job summary

Broken Arrow Public Schools seeks a School Health Aide to support Highland Park Elementary and other sites under Health Services. The role involves administering medications, maintaining health records, and responding to medical needs with supervision from a school nurse.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid certification preferred, and prior health care experience. The position is a 9-month contract with 7 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; basic healthcare training preferred
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in health care setting preferred
• Skills: CPR and First Aid certification; knowledge of universal precautions; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; basic computer skills; attention to detail and accuracy; completion of district training as per skills list

Responsibilities

• Utilizes standards of care and first aid in caring for students and staff, including data collection and following nurse instructions
• Administers, documents and inventories medications in compliance with health services standards
• Communicates appropriately with supervising nurse and works within the scope of practice
• Prioritizes and organizes duties to respond to students, parents and staff in a timely manner
• Maintains accurate records using appropriate documentation systems and tracks immunizations
• Participates in district health services meetings and quality improvement activities
• Supports district safety by maintaining emergency information and ensuring a safe work environment
