Job summary

Baptist Health System in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide compassionate bedside nursing care under minimal supervision. You will assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, administer medications, document care, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred experience in med/surg, telemetry or ICU with a current Texas RN license and BLS/ACLS within 60 days of hire. Participate in discharge planning and ongoing education for staff and patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Current Texas RN license.
• Active BLS and ACLS within 60 days of hire.
• Two years in acute care preferred.
• Experience in med/surg, telemetry or ICU preferred.
• S.T.A.B.L.E. for NICU within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient, family, and significant others for health needs.
• Initiate and adjust individualized care plans.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately.
• Assimilate information and prioritize for decisive action.
• Support and maintain physiologic stability of patients.
• Document all plans and care provided.
• Educate patient, family, and/or significant others.
• Assign nursing care and coordinate workflow.
• Administer medications and monitor responses.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team in planning and management.
• Respond to end-of-life decisions and patient needs.
• Monitor critical care services and resources.
• Participate in discharge planning and provide instruction to patient/family.
• Maintain professional standards through inservices and committees.
• Facilitate patient movement, admissions, discharges, transfers.
• Handoff effectively at shift changes with proper documentation.
