Job summary

Worthington Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, in Parkersburg, WV, is recruiting a Van Driver / Transportation Assistant for a full-time, in-facility role. You will transport residents to outside physician visits and in-house activities in a safe, caring manner.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, Red Cross First Aid, and prior experience in healthcare or service.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or G. E. D. equivalent
• Must possess a current, valid Driver’s License in State of employment
• Graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or be eligible to enter such a program and graduate and pass a state test within 120 days from date of employment
• Must possess Red Cross First Aid Certificate
• Prior work/life experiences involving independent decision making
• Prior work/life experiences, preferably in healthcare or a service industry
• Compassionate and enthusiastic personality

Responsibilities

• Transport and assist residents, per facility vehicle, to outside physician visits in a safe manner
• Assist with transporting residents within the facility to scheduled specialty appointments, i.e. podiatry, audiology, optometry, dental, etc.
• Assist with transporting residents to and from scheduled in-house activities
• Provide one on one monitoring for residents deemed an elopement risk on outside visits
• Perform basic nursing care procedures for residents as required
• Create a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents and assure that their needs are met
• Maintain resident documentation records
• Maintain and work within established departmental, center, and corporate policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards
• Attend and participate in scheduled training, educational classes, and orientation programs to maintain certification and enhance quality of care
• Perform other related activities as assigned or requested
