Job summary

World Relief in Chicago seeks a dedicated case manager to support immigrant families by applying for public benefits, helping access medical care, and guiding children into schools. The role includes referrals to external organizations and ongoing community orientation.

You will conduct assessments, arrange transportation, and maintain accurate client files while collaborating with staff to advocate for clients within the local system.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for immigrant families and connect to services.
  • Assist asylum-seeking families with public benefits and referrals.
  • Guide participants through the healthcare system, appointments, and transportation.
  • Provide orientation about Chicago and local resources.
  • Schedule and accompany clients to appointments and maintain records.
  • Participate in team meetings and trainings; perform additional duties as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:



This position will provide case management services to immigrant families including services such as applying for public benefits, accessing medical care, assisting children to enroll in school, providing referrals to external organizations, and ongoing community orientation.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments with immigrant families to assess needs and barriers, and to facilitate connections to appropriate services for meeting identified needs.

  • Assist asylum seeking families in accessing and understanding public benefits such as Medicaid, All Kids, VTTC and WIC.

  • Orient participants to the healthcare system including making appointments, arranging transportation, and communicating important information to physicians

  • Provide education/orientation to families regarding their new surroundings in the city of Chicago

  • Assist immigrants in scheduling and attending appointments with social service and medical providers, at times providing transportation

  • Maintain timely and accurate client files, case notes, and reporting records

  • Actively participate in department meetings and program trainings

  • Other duties as assigned


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mature and personal Christian faith

  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief

  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities

  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document

  • Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standards

  • Bilingual (Spanish or Arabic preferred due to client/community needs)

  • Valid driver’s license, and ability/willingness to drive minivan and/or 15-passenger van required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly self-motivated with strong follow-through and ability to work independently

  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Knowledge of the immigrant experience highly preferred

  • Strong mediation and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and relational skills.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to follow through on projects and assignments

  • Experience and/or training in working with traumatized populations or trauma informed care

  • Desire to engage the local church in partnership with our service to asylum seekers

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, problem solve, and exercise critical thinking skills

  • Willingness to advocate on behalf of clients with service providers, and governmental organizations
