Job summary

Optim-Healthcare in Sylvania, GA is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant (PRN) to provide basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients. You will assist with meals, hygiene, mobility, vital signs, and documentation, under supervision of licensed staff.

This part-time, as-needed role requires flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to respond to emergencies while maintaining patient dignity and comfort in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients within scope of practice.
• Assists with positioning, lifting, turning, transferring and ambulation.
• Obtains patient specimens and delivers to the laboratory, retrieves x-ray films.
• Records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight and intake/output.
• Prepares patients for meals, serves and removes food trays, assists with feeding.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge, including wheelchair transfers.
• Performs basic patient care according to age-related standards of care.
• Reports changes in patient condition to licensed personnel.
• Prepares patients for tests and procedures as per policy.
• Assists with feeding and maintains fluid balance appropriate for age.
• Explains care to patient and family, answers questions within scope.
• Performs treatments and services within scope of practice.
• Communicates clearly with charge nurse, coworkers and physicians.
• Coordinates with other departments for interdisciplinary patient care.
• Provides age-appropriate care for pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Maintains patient safety and reduces health care errors.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and composure under stress.
• Responds to emergencies or distressful situations.
• Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
• Participates in patient care conferences and collaborates on care plans.
• Maintains good working relationships within and across departments.
• Operates and orients new staff to unit operations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of fire drill plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
