Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospice is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse – PRN to provide expert clinical care and support our nursing teams across home care and inpatient services. The role emphasizes flexibility, timely admissions, and high-quality, dignity-centered care for patients and families.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of nursing experience, are licensed in Virginia, and are prepared to cover scheduled and emergent shifts in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing education program.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
• Virginia RN license in good standing.
• Home health or hospice experience preferred for home care assignments; acute care, home health, hospice, medical-surgical, or geriatric nursing for inpatient assignments.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic, patient- and family-centered care as part of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
• Deliver scheduled or emergent nursing visits based on patient and staffing needs.
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments including pain, nutrition and fluid balance, skin integrity, and changes in condition.
• Complete admission assessments within required timeframes.
• Collaborate on plans of care with patients, families, and IDT; contribute nursing input to ongoing care planning.
• Participate in IDT care conferences and communicate needs to team members.
