Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited two-year Physical Therapist Assistant program and licensed in the practicing state.
• Willingness to travel within local area for patient treatment.
• Ability to work indoors with exposure to some disagreeable conditions.
• Effective communication with patients, therapy staff and facility personnel.
• Adhere to Employee Handbook terms and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administering programs involving passive manual therapeutic exercises, massage, traction and heat, and modalities such as ultrasound.
• Instruct, motivate and assist patients to learn and improve skills.
• Observe treatments, collect data on responses and progress, and report to rehab director.
• Assist in evaluating daily living skills and determine abilities and limitations.
• Design and adapt equipment as needed.
• Instruct patients and family on use of adaptive equipment and care.
• Document progress toward established goals.
• Maintain good relations with patients, families and center guests; adhere to patient rights.
• Follow infection control precautions and universal blood/body fluid precautions.
• Observe safety, identify hazards, and report after ensuring patient safety.
• Maintain supplies and equipment, and keep billing records.
• Follow policies on body mechanics and mobility; participate in in-service programs.
