Job summary

Optum in West Nyack, NY is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our care delivery team. You’ll perform venipuncture and capillary collections for adults and pediatrics, ensure proper specimen labeling, and maintain LIS workflows.

This role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years phlebotomy, and ability to travel to multiple draw stations. Schedule is 37.5 hours, Mon–Fri with rotating Saturdays; competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School graduate
• 2+ years of phlebotomy experience
• 1+ years of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Available to work a 37.5 flexible schedule Monday through Friday and rotating Saturdays
• Travel to other draw stations (all sites)

Responsibilities

• Perform routine phlebotomy procedures
• Draw samples with order of draw for lab testing
• Perform waived testing
• Navigate laboratory computer system with minimal errors
• Verify patient demographics with two identifiers
• Maintain safety and infection control practices
• Blood collection from adult and pediatric patients
• Label specimens accurately
• Instruct patients on urine and stool collection procedures
• Enter accessioning data into the LIS
• Prepare specimens for send-out testing
• Inventory supplies and prepare phlebotomy stations
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff
• Provide quality customer service to patients and visitors
